Évora is classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. This town is enclosed in ancient walls that remain in their original state. It features monuments dating from various important periods a monumental temple and Roman vestiges.
Évora was under Muslim rules from 715 to 1166 when it was released by Knight Geraldo Sempavor. It was one of Portugal's kingdom most dynamic cities during middle ages. This town was the scene for many royal weddings and it used to be a major centre for the humanities.
